Congratulations to Katherine Kempf on being named the South Putnam High School Student of the Month for October. Katherine is a dedicated and hardworking student who brings a smile to every classroom. Katherine challenges herself by taking difficult classes but never forgets to help others. Katherine was nominated by Mr. Errett who gave her the following praise: "What has been most impressive with Katherine is her kindness and willingness to help another student in class. In class, one of the students is a foreign exchange student and struggles with English. Katherine always takes the time to work with her and include her in group projects. She is kind, patient, and makes her feel included.”

Congratulations to our AP students, who thanks to our partnership with Norte Dame were paid for their success on AP exams. Through this partnership South Putnam students earned over $3000 last year. They also earned college credit which will save them even more money when they leave South. These students challenged themselves and then rose to meet the challenge.

Thank you to all our students who participated in our blood drive today. Thank you to everyone who worked hard to set up this life-saving event.

Thank you to Old National Trail for once again coordinating an equine therapy program for some of our middle school students this fall. Students enjoyed time learning to work with and care for horses at Lakeland Center.

Clarification: Eastbound lanes can exit onto 40. People intending to go westbound need to exit onto 231.

Due to I-70 being closed, State Police are requesting that all people exit the South Putnam parking lot at the end of the day through the west exit onto 231.

Just want to give a shoutout to our food service staff at the high school. They do amazing work each day! Thank you Lori Boyce for your leadership and hard work too.

Members of the 8th Grade and High School Bands traveled to Carmel to see The President's Own United States Marine Band in Concert. After the performance the students had the opportunity to meet with some of the musicians and ask questions. The students truly enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience.

Job Opportunity: We have an opportunity for a middle school math teacher at South Putnam. There may be an opening for a full-day or half-day schedule. Click on https://app.hirenimble.com/jobs/South-Putnam-CS for more information.

Saturday night South Putnam Middle and High School hosted a trick-or-treat night. Many little ones and their families came by to show off their costumes and pick up treats from our students. That you to Student Council, NHS and FFA for sponsoring this event.

Congratulations to the new National Honor Society members. Mrs. Bye and the NHS members did a wonderful job conducting the induction ceremony. Members must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. They must also exhibit and maintain high standards in four areas: scholarship, service, leadership and character.

Congratulations to our A Honor Roll students for the first nine weeks of the first semester. They earned a lunch from Chick-Fil-A today. Thank you to these students and their families for all the hard work they have put in this year.

Just a reminder to wear red tomorrow in support of Red Ribbon Week and make it a South Putnam shirt to support our football team competing in Sectionals at home!

Our senior class officers helped bring an important tradition back to South Putnam. Monday several of our seniors made the journey to St. Louis on the Senior Trip. Students toured the Gateway Arch, the St. Louis Zoo, and Aquarium at Union Station. They ate dinner in Ballpark Village. It was a day of fun memories. Thank you to Brian Gardner, Rachelle Custis and Cortney Branam for organizing the trip.

It is Red Ribbon Week! Students are receiving information and signing pledges at lunch. We are also encouraging students to wear red on Friday and attend the P.I.E. Breakfast. Thank you to NHS for their leadership on the week's activities.

The South Putnam and Cloverdale FFA chapters are partnering to bring back a community toy drive this year! We are so excited to share this opportunity with the families in our community. The event will be held at the C Bar C in Cloverdale on December 8.
If you are interested in donating new or gently used unwrapped toys, hats and gloves, batteries, or wrapping paper and tape, please reach out to the FFA Advisors. The South Putnam advisors are Amanda Line aline@sputnam.k12.in.us, Cameron Frazier cfrazier@sputnam.k12.in.us, and Helen Eaglin heaglin@sputnam.k12.in.us.

A strong showing for South Putnam at Cross Country Regionals today.

South Putnam's Student Council is sponsoring a trick-or-treat event at South on Saturday, Oct. 28th.

What a beautiful fall day out at Chandler's Farm! Thank you to Old National Trail, Executive Director Joe Kwisz and Teacher Tom Standers for making this possible. Thank you Matt Chandler for coordinating the tour, apple picking and pumpkin selection. It was a fun and educational day!

Mrs. Henry took her ACP US History class out to the new tables on the Nature Trail to analyze the original draft of the Declaration of Independence. It is wonderful for students to learn about the foundation document of our nation while enjoying the beauty of its land.
