South Putnam students participated in the PIE breakfast this morning! PIE (Prevention Intervention Education) is a county-wide organization focused on positive health choices related to avoiding alcohol and illegal drug use.

It's a great day to learn at South Putnam High School. Ms. Eaglin's students were working on demonstration projects. Mrs. Bye's students were graphing lines. Ms. Hudson's students learned about Spanish names. Lastly, Mrs. Dickson helped students in her pre-calculus class. Great things are happening all over our building.

Mrs. Kendall was working with 6th grade students today in the pool as part of the new swim unit for 6th and 7th grade PE students. We are excited about this new experience at South Putnam!

Thank you to Karen and Anthony Heavin for donating $500 to the South Putnam Quarterback Club in recognition of the support South Putnam families gave their children and school community during the county football jamboree by walking through the HIPS (Hidden in Plain Sight) trailer. Karen and Anthony yearly give their time and money to support many amazing opportunities for students at South Putnam and around the county.

Thank you to the PIE Coalition advocates Karen Heavin and Tom Sutherlin with Coordinator Linda Merkel who presented a $500 check to our South Putnam Athletic Department. The check acknowledged the winning number of adults who toured the HIPS trailer during the county football jamboree to learn about how students hide devices and substances in plain sight. Mr. Burgess plans to use the money to continue to support positive student leadership in athletics. South Putnam student PIE representatives Lilah Holderfield and Drew Gardner along with Landon Chew (not pictured) promote drug awareness and prevention in coordination with other students in the county.

Eagles doing what Eagles do!

Congratulations to South Putnam senior Alyssa Pingleton on signing to play softball for Saint Mary-of-the -Woods College!

The Inaugural Putnam County Football Jamboree at South Putnam was a huge success! It was a great preview of a strong season ahead for the Eagles! Thank you to Troy Burgess and the whole South Putnam team for putting on a fantastic event! It was incredible to see the whole county there supporting student athletes! Thank you to all of our community partners for their support! The P.I.E. Coalition and Anthony and Karen Heavin showed particular generosity in their $1000 donation to an athletic department of the school with the highest participation touring the HIPS trailer. Adults gained knowledge in keeping their children safe by learning how vapes and drug paraphernalia can be Hidden in Plain Sight! Thank you South Putnam families for winning the funds for our athletes!

6th grade students had a warm-up discussion with Mrs. Weddle - "If you could have one superpower, what would it be?" and then completed an activity sharing with her the math skills they have to start the year.
