Look at our book character pumpkins promoting literacy! Teachers are visiting the pumpkins with their class and reading the books that go along with them until Thanksgiving break. A huge thank you to Carpenter Farms, Reelsville Community Center, and parents for their donations.

Central Elementary is Hiring!

Good morning, South Putnam MS/HS and Central Elementary families. Good news! The water boil advisory has been lifted as of this morning, Friday, October 25th. Have a wonderful weekend, and Go Eagles!

Good evening, South Putnam MS/HS and Central Elementary families:
This afternoon, there was a water main break at US 231 and 40, which supplies our main campus. We have water, but we will operate under a boil order until cleared by the water company. Our food services director and cafeteria staff have already adjusted to accommodate the boil order, but please feel free to send a bottle of water with your student tomorrow. We will also have bottled water available for staff and students. We will keep you posted if anything should change.
Have a great rest of your evening,
Dr. Smith

Tomorrow (10/23) is Picture Retake Day. Don't forget to send in your child's packet if you would like for them to have a retake.
Tomorrow is also the last day you can send in your pumpkin donation. We need one pumpkin per classroom.

Thank you to our PTO, families, and staff for a successful Fall Fest! We ended our day with Pie in the Eye. Have a great Fall Break. We will see on Monday, October 21.

Early literacy is very important to us!
We are looking for pumpkin donations. Each class will have one pumpkin decorated like a character in a book to share with the school.
Classes will go around the school to listen to the stories until Thanksgiving break.

Water pressure has been restored at Central Elementary. Thank you to Jared Hutcheson and everyone who worked to resolve the problem. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow evening at the Fall Festival!

We are so thankful for them!

A huge thank you goes out to our Staff, PTO, Fogle Real Estate, and Grandparents for a successful Goodies with Grands event.

Good evening, South Putnam families:
Putnam County Sheriff Baugh has just released an update via Facebook that reads:
"No new social media threats to area schools.
As of this evening, all social media threats and or informational posts about school threats have been investigated by area law enforcement.
We have found no substantiated threats to our schools. All investigations are current, with no new investigations started since last week.
Reports from our investigations, about the subjects who created these posts, will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.
We continue to work with area schools and law enforcement agencies, to provide safety to our kids and school faculty each day.
If a new post arises, please share with law enforcement and school officials, so we may determine the quickest plan of action to resolve the concern and provide the highest level of safety for our kids.
Be advised the sharing of a social media post, about an unsubstantiated threat to area schools, usually causes more confusion than it helps resolve.
Sheriff Baugh"

Here at South Putnam, we will continue to be vigilant and safety-oriented, returning to standard safety protocols and working cooperatively with law enforcement should the need arise.
Have a great evening,
Dr. Smith

September 11, 2024
Dear Parents and Guardians of Putnam County Schools,
This evening, we were informed of a potential threat to the safety of schools across Putnam County. The threat, though non-specific and not directed at any individual school, did reference all schools within the county.
It is important to note that this threat may be part of a growing trend of social media. However, we take any and all threats seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of your children. School administrators from across the county are working closely with law enforcement agencies to investigate the matter and identify the source of this threat.
All four Putnam County superintendents, along with multiple school administrators, have been in continuous contact with law enforcement agencies including the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and local police departments to ensure that every precaution is being taken. As part of these measures, you may see additional law enforcement officers present at our schools tomorrow.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as they become available. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to maintain a safe and secure environment for all students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dustin LeMay
