Dear Central Elementary Families,
Our students and staff have accomplished so much
this first semester. We have made a huge
investment in professional development for our
teachers this year as we continue to shrink the
learning gap that was created the past couple
of years. To date, the majority of time has been
spent on curriculum mapping in language arts and
mathematics. This process will continue throughout
our second semester as well. Our curriculums start
with the Indiana Standards and from there, our
teachers create lessons, identify student strengths
and weaknesses, and sets goals for success.
Notables:
• Please continue to watch our new and
improved school website. We are
consistently posting news, information, and
pictures of our awesome
Central kids.
• Cold weather is here, however, unless the
weather is just not safe for students and staff
to be outside, we will be going outside for
recess. Please make sure your child is
appropriately dressed.
• We encourage each of you to join us for our
Central Elementary Holiday Program on
Tuesday, Dec. 13. This event is guaranteed
to be well attended so please keep the
following in mind. We cannot accommodate
all our families in our gym at one time.
Therefore, we have sent out information as
to when you should show up. We will have
•the cafeteria open for family members to hang out
while waiting.
I wish you a restful winter break and hope you
enjoy this time with your children. For the New
Year, I wish you great health and happiness and
hope the winter recess provides a myriad of
opportunities for you and your children to do
things you might not be able to accomplish when
school is in session.
School is closed beginning December 22nd and
students will be returning on Thursday, January 5th,
2023. Children do best with regular schedules, and I
encourage you to prepare for their return to school
on January 5 by instilling in them an understanding
about the importance of being rested and ready to
learn.
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year from our
Central Elementary School
family to yours.
